"Sugarless" is the highly anticipated pre-release single from UNCLE JOHN's upcoming first full-length album, "GOODIES".

Rooted in a deep respect for "Oldies but Goodies," this track masterfully deconstructs and blends the band's core influences- Rock 'n' Roll, Garage, Punk, Ska, Merseybeat, Americana, Country, and nostalgic J-Pop melodies. It delivers an unforgettable, catchy hook that perfectly marries the soulful energy of roots rock with the distinctive emotional melodies of 1970s Japanese "Showa Kayo" pop.

As the first taste of the album, "Sugarless" is a high-energy killer tune driven by a solid garage beat that captures the bittersweet feelings of a girl in love. It tells the story of her trying to melt the heart of a cool, black-coffee-drinking boy, teasingly asking, "Why not sweeten up a bit?" Already a massive fan favorite at their live shows, this track is guaranteed to get you on your feet and dancing!

Artist Profile

  • UNCLE JOHN

A rock 'n' roll band hailing from Kyoto, Japan. They are known for their original songs that breathe modern sensibility into roots music, as well as their extensive repertoire of covers. Their live performances are powered by NANA's vocals (honed night after night in old-school house bands) alongside TARO's guitar, KANTA's powerful and tight drumming, and his younger brother SHINPEI's bass, who crafts his own musical processes. The band strictly adheres to a fully DIY, self-produced style, handling everything from recording and jacket design to photography and video production entirely on their own. They continue to make waves in the global rock 'n' roll scene, having shared the stage with legendary artists such as Paul Simonon (The Clash), The Kaisers, and Charles Berry III, as well as touring overseas and releasing music in Germany.
