Lucks and Tracks

What are the sounds heard throughout this album?
It is the sound of cherries bouncing in the water, the sound of clouds drifting soundlessly, the sound of the cold ocean outside the house where surfers wait for waves, the sound of life leaking from nostalgic old houses in Southeast Asia, and the sound of my own impression of a place I have never been. These sound fragments, recorded during fieldwork, form the foundation of the project. The melodies of the instruments and songs were improvised from these foundations, and once I stood in front of the microphone, melodies and lyrics were born and recorded. The environmental sounds of nature and the city, or sounds created with nature as a motif, were the stars of the show, and the two members of MAMEFUTATSU followed their lead with a grand piano, guitar, and sound effects using a tape MTR. This is the impression one gets from this work.
Music is said to transcend national borders, but in terms of the identity that their sound possesses, it does not extend beyond the Asian region. What sounds here can be seen as music created by those who were born in the "Far East," a country with an inconvenient regional concept imposed on them, in order to confront the dilemma of musical influences from the Western world. It is not as crossover as nomadic music, but has a "moderate" capacity, depth, and texture that does not fit well into the term "village music" or "country music.
Anyway, the music is pleasant to listen to with no interruptions, as if you cannot tell the beginning and end of a song when it is playing on a loop. I would like to listen to the music without guessing about the musical background, and just let the sound take care of itself.
