Kaoruko and Stones Taro Co-Produce Their Latest Release 'Y'
In 2021, this dynamic duo introduced 'YOU WORRY' through Tokyo Vitamin, a track that quickly gained cult-like popularity due to its distinctive blend of sentimentality, Japanese lyrics, and a UK garage beat. This collaboration not only marked a significant turning point in Kaoruko's musical journey but also allowed her to forge connections with fellow music enthusiasts, leading to increased involvement in club performances. Their creative partnership continued to flourish with the consecutive releases of 'Monstera' and 'Diamond' in 2023, paving the way for their latest offering, 'Y.'
The title 'Y' draws its inspiration from the phrase 'Y-junction' within the lyrics, passionately sung by Kaoruko. The song itself is a captivating blend of messages directed towards others and introspective reflections, guiding listeners through a spectrum of emotions ranging from fear to positivity, ultimately culminating in the empowering ability to say goodbye. Stones Taro's artful track arrangements echo the solitude of making life-altering decisions, as if one were meandering through the weightless expanse of space.
The impeccable mixing and mastering of 'Y' were handled by Tadashi Matsuda, renowned for his work with artists such as Lip Slime, m-flo, Tei Towa, and chelmico.
Singer-songwriter born in Yokosuka and raised in Shinjuku. Her music is inspired by a wide range of genres from pop and rock to dance music, and she writes and produces her own songs. Kaoruko debuted in 2019 with the EP Starting now, followed by You Better Know, SyGyZy, and opal. After collaborating with Stones Taro on YOU WORRY (featured on the tokyo vitamin compilation album), the two went on to release the joint EP Y in March 2024, followed by Y Remixes in December, a release more focused on the dance floor. Actively performing across Japan, Kaoruko has recently expanded to international stages, appearing at Neon Oasis Fest. in Taiwan and Studio Adventure in Vietnam in 2024, while continuing to bring her sound to dance floors in Tokyo and beyond.
