Lyric

MARA is an album by Japanese rapper and producer Maphie. Living with bipolar disorder, he channels the anger, desire, feelings of omnipotence, resentment, love, and loneliness that swelled within him during a year marked by intense mania and a sense of loss in 2026.

As he becomes a giant, seeks unlimited power, and reaches beyond the human toward the demonic, his vulnerability and longing for salvation become ever more exposed. From "Giant" to "Throughout heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one"'the album traces an expanding ego to its furthest reaches.

MARA captures one man's journey through ceaseless prayer-until he lets go of even prayer itself.
