Artist Profile

  • pigstar

Formed by Tomonori Sekiguchi (Vocals & Guitar), Ryoji Sekiguchi (Bass & Chorus), and Masayoshi Ishi (Drums). The band made its debut in 2005 with the single Glide. Later that year, the title track from their mini album Ame ga Suki Datta was selected as the theme song for the sports and entertainment segment of Nippon TV program News Plus One, bringing them wider recognition. In 2008, their songs were consecutively chosen as opening themes for both seasons of the anime series Junjou Romantica and Junjou Romantica 2, based on a hugely popular manga with over 4 million copies sold worldwide. During this period, they released the singles Kimi = Hana and Shoudou. That same year, Takayuki Watanabe (Guitar & Piano) and Yoshikazu Kamata (Drums) joined the band. They released the mini album ground0 and held a sold out one man live show, pigstar LIVE ground 0, at Shinjuku LOFT. In 2009, the band was selected to perform the theme song for the film LOVE (L O V E), released in Taiwan and Hong Kong. This led to an album release and a successful live tour in Taiwan. After releasing a total of six albums and three singles, the band went on hiatus in 2011. In 2017, they resumed activities with the original lineup of the Sekiguchi brothers and Masayoshi Ishi.
