春まだ浅い 朝の道
軒先の梅が ほころんでいる
真新しいランドセル 背中で揺れて
母親の手を離れ 駆けてゆく
川沿いを行く 電車の窓に
田んぼの水が 空を映して
名前も知らない 小さな駅で
誰かが誰かを 待っている
この国の風に 吹かれてきたんだ
春も夏も いくつ越えただろう
名もない町の 名もない暮らしが
今になって こんなに愛しい
朝には暖簾を 掛ける人がいて
夕べには家路を 急ぐ人がいる
何でもない日の 何でもない景色
それを故郷と 呼ぶのだろう
蝉しぐれ降る 八月の午後
麦茶の氷が 小さく鳴った
夕立のあとの 濡れた石畳
遠くで祭りの 太鼓が響く
秋には稲穂が 頭を垂れて
冬には白い息を 両手で包む
除夜の鐘が 夜空へ消えれば
また新しい 春を待つ
この国の風に 吹かれてきたんだ
嬉しい日にも うつむいた日にも
季節は何にも 言わないままで
いつでもそばを 通り過ぎた
知らない町にも 夕餉の匂い
窓にはそれぞれ 誰かの暮らし

遠い国にも きっとあるだろう
帰れば心ほどける場所が
懐かしい声 忘れない匂い
自分を育てた ひとつの空が
誰かが愛する その故郷を

泣いて 笑って ここまで来たんだ
桜が散れば 若葉がひらき
また蝉の声が 聞こえてくる
