NEMUTAI HONE
Nemutai Hone
Formed in April 2025, Nemutai Hone is a rock band based in Kyoto, Japan, performing the songs of singer-songwriter Chiaki Sano.
The band consists of:
Chiaki Sano (vocals, guitar)
Heidi (vocals, synthesizer)
mishio (drums)
Leona (bass)
osamuosanai (vocals, guitar)
Originally from Fujinomiya, Shizuoka, Chiaki Sano began performing in Tokyo in 2009.
In 2010, Sano formed the three-piece band Shiro (White) and began performing regularly. Their first album, Okujo no Shugo Kyokushu, was released in 2013.
After relocating to Kyoto in 2016, Sano continued performing with The Chiaki Sano Band. In 2019, Sano released the second album Konen (Light Years), featuring recording contributions from Kyoto band Honjitsu Kyuen and Kitakyushu-based band Pisces (Uoza).
The band became inactive during the COVID-19 pandemic, while Sano continued touring throughout Japan as a solo artist.
In 2025, Sano finally formed Nemutai Hone, bringing together members of KASHIKOI ULYSSES (osamuosanai and mishio), singer-songwriter Heidi, and guitar builder Leona.
The band's debut EP, TOI TOMODACHI (Distant Friends), will be released in January 2026.
TOI TOMODACHI -Artist Comment-
This is Nemutai Hone's first recording.
All of my previous releases under my own name were made as home recordings. This time, however, we recorded together as a band at SUBMARINE in Kyoto with the help of engineer Ezoe. When I record alone, I create everything myself-not only the songs, but also the bass lines, drum parts, and arrangements. Working as a band was completely different. Everyone brought their own ideas to the arrangements, and the process felt fresh and exciting. They were still my songs, but it was a strange and wonderful feeling to realize that I wasn't the only person facing them anymore.
