Beating the Future

ベースとドラムと
いうきわめてシンプルな構造から、
どこまで未来を鳴
らせるかを追い込んだ作品である。

このアルバムにあるのは、複雑な理論や過剰な装飾で
はない。低音が身体に届くこと、ドラムが衝動を直接
叩き込むこと、その原始的で根源的な力を起点にし
て、mo-iは現代の都市、デジタルな夜、宇宙的な広が
り、そして人間の内側の再生までを描き出している。

表題曲「Beating the Future」が示すように、この作品
の中心にあるのは、未来を待つのではなく、自らの
ビートで打ち鳴らすという姿勢だ。

「Road of the Drums」や「Carve It in the Soul」では、
リズムは生き方そのものとなり、「Digital Heartbeat
of the Drum」では機械の鼓動に感情が宿り、「No
Beat Human」では逆に鼓動を失った存在への鋭い視線
が向けられる。

また、「Dancing with the Moon」や「Rhythm of the
Universe」は、mo-iのビートが単なる地上の衝動にと
どまらず、静かな神秘や宇宙的な律動へも届くことを
示している。

このアルバムを通して一貫しているのは、ビートは単
なる音ではなく、存在そのものを立ち上げる力だとい
う感覚だ。

都市のネオンも、夜の孤独も、スピードも、痛みも、
覚醒も、共鳴も、すべてはビートによって意味を持ち
はじめる。言葉より先に身体へ届き、身体を通して感
情や未来のイメージへ変わっていく。その感覚こそが
mo-iの本質である。

ユニット名が示すように、mo-iにはどこか無言の威圧
感と神秘性がある。しかしその音楽は閉ざされていない。
むしろ剥き出しのビートを通して、聴き手の身体に直接開かれてい
る。だからこの作品は、頭で理解するアルバムという
より、まず身体で受け取るアルバムだ。
そして聴き進めるうちに、その身体感覚の奥から、未
来、再生、共鳴、創造といったテーマが静かに立ち上
がってくる。

『Beating the Future』とは、未来を予言する作品
ではない。
未来を作るために、今ここで鳴らすべきビートを刻ん
だ作品である。
ベースとドラム、たった二つの衝動から、ここまで広
い風景を描けること。
その証明として、このアルバムは強く鳴っている。
