4s4ki、なかむらみなみ (TREKKIE TRAX)、Valkneeら東京シーンを代表するアーティストとのコラボレーションを経てリリースされる「daybreak」は、echoにとって約1年ぶりとなるソロシングル。90年代トランスにインスパイアされたダンス・トラックで、囁くようなアンビエント・ボーカルを主役に据えたサウンドが特徴だ。
モダンなダンスベースラインに、トランス特有のリードやゲートのかかったコードを重ね、ベルのようなチャイムのメロディや浮遊感のあるピアノが楽曲全体を包み込む。90年代後半〜2000年代初頭のトランス黄金期を思わせるシンセサウンドが、ノスタルジックでありながら現代的な空気感を生み出している。
内省、自由、そしてどこかへ向かいたいという衝動をテーマに、儚さと高揚感が同居する一曲となっている。
