世界を巡っていると、同じ街へ戻るまでに、思っていた以上の時間が過ぎている。
この曲は、台北の高層ホテルから見た夜景から生まれた。雨の流れる窓の向こうには、新しいビルと古い市場、スクーターの列と屋台の明かりが同時に見えた。
離れている間にも街は変わり続け、台湾は半導体を通じて、世界のスマートフォン、車、サーバーを支える場所になっていた。目には見えないほど小さなものが、世界中の日常を動かしている。
その景色を眺めながら、変わったのは街だけではないと気づいた。
自分では、ただ次の場所へ移動してきただけだと思っていた。けれど、越えてきた国境や歩いた道は、少しずつ自分の中に残っていた。
街は誰かの帰りを待たない。時間も待たない。
それでも、久しぶりに戻ったからこそ見える変化がある。
窓ガラスに映った顔を見て、初めて分かった。
自分もまた、知らないうちに前へ進んでいたのだと。
