"Taipei City at Night" was inspired by a view from a high-rise hotel above Taipei.

From the window, new towers stood beside old markets, scooters moved through narrow streets, and rain reflected the city lights below. The scene captured two sides of the same place: a city moving rapidly into the future, while everyday life continued at street level.

Returning after time away made those changes impossible to ignore. Taiwan had become one of the places quietly powering the modern world through semiconductors found in phones, cars, and servers across the globe.

But the song is not only about the city.

It is also about realizing that while a place changes in your absence, you do too. Travel, distance, and time leave their mark, even when you do not notice it happening.

"Taipei City at Night" is a song about returning, looking down at a familiar city, and seeing both the world and yourself differently.
