The Dishwasher Ate My Spoon

Tomohiko Gondo

Found a lone fork

On the kitchen floor

Coffee ring map

By the cupboard door

Mismatched plates

Like a yard sale scene

And my favorite spoon

Gone

Squeaky clean?

The dishwasher ate my spoon

Swallowed it under the spray

I pressed that button

Heard a tune

Now my silver sidekick’s gone astray

Hey

The dishwasher ate my spoon

Guess it wanted one more bite

Set it to normal

Now it’s doomed

Dining lopsided every night

Check the cutlery

Shake the plastic tray

Pull out racks

Like a magic play

Sock in the freezer

Keys in the bread

But the one small circle

Stuck in my head

Maybe it’s surfing

On a soap wave highway

Riding with the bubbles

On a spin-cycle skyway

If you see a little shimmer

In the suds

That’s mine

Tell it dinner’s at seven

And it’s way out of line

The dishwasher ate my spoon

Swallowed it under the spray

I pressed that button

Heard a tune

Now my silver sidekick’s gone astray

Hey

The dishwasher ate my spoon

Guess it wanted one more bite

Set it to normal

Now it’s doomed

Dining lopsided every night

Jane-B is a duo found in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma, USA.
They like a song written by someone and sing it to stay together for a while.
Jane-B is the nickname that Gondo's family called him when he was born, and it was apparently given to him by his own brother. He still calls him
that to this day.

Jane-B's voice is fading but remains close by.
It could be a demo and reference.
How would you sing it?
