"My heart always drifts two billion light-years away, stained with colors no one can name."
(Excerpt from the M1 "Gradations in Sequence")

As this line suggests, Gradations in Sequence is filled with emotions and distances that cannot fully be captured in words. Like light drifting through outer space, feelings of solitude, warmth, memory, and longing overlap and slowly form a landscape of their own.

The cosmic scene depicted on the album cover. two extraterrestrial beings exchanging a flower in the vastness of space. serves as one of the symbolic images of the work. Within the immense and quiet universe, even the smallest gesture can quietly exist. That image reflects the delicate distances between people and the unspoken feelings portrayed in the songs throughout the album.

Gradations in Sequence is an album that embraces ambiguity as it is, portraying the countless emotional "gradations" that exist between feelings through sound and words.

In terms of sound, the album leans even further toward an acoustic and organic texture than the previous release "Feelings Shifted to Spring"
By keeping the mix relatively unprocessed, it places emphasis on the performances themselves and the natural atmosphere surrounding them.

The record is also strongly influenced by Brazilian MPB, carrying a warm and lyrical sensibility reminiscent of artists such as Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges.
