"Murasaki -de ii" is a jazz-inspired Japanese rap about the color purple, which has been a lifelong symbol for me-not just a favorite color, but a statement about the beauty of being different and the courage to live in your own color.
From being told in kindergarten that liking purple was "not normal," to watching my mother always choose it, to learning as a professional painter how hard it is to achieve purple in paint and how to make it appear through technique-these experiences shaped the verses. There's also a nod to cultural differences in color-making, and a personal moment seeing a rainbow begin and end in purple.
Every part of the song reinforces the core message: You don't have to be the same. Different is beautiful. Even if it doesn't suit you, the courage to choose it is precious.
Painter with 25 Years of Experience / Craftsman & Business Owner Inherited traditional Japanese techniques from my father, a master of early Showa-era painting methods. I've worked with nearly every type of "paint" exterior, interior, special finishes, aging, sculptural, repair, and vehicles. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf in an antique style, using 100-year-old clubs for a unique approach to the game. Actively promoting the value and recognition of craftsmanship in modern society.
