White night

Shadows of mountains sink in white of night

Stone paths are empty in the faded light

The sound of koto dancing in the breeze

Calling back the nameless days with ease

Is it a dream or reality I see

Koto dreaming inside of me

Strings are echoing through the dark and light

A melody remaining in the chest so tight

Bells ring from far away as foxfires sway

Birds are flying where the people used to pray

Whispering the ancient words of holy rite

Who was I waiting for throughout the night

Beyond the mountain peaks the snow will tell

The sleeping name inside the silent cell

Melting in the koto dream with no reply

The dawn is breaking in the heavy sky

Inside the white night the koto starts to sing

Tracing the forgotten prayer that it will bring

A melody for no one else to hear

Still it echoes on so loud and clear

White night
