If you ever feel uneasy about the ideas of right and wrong decided by society or by other people, escape into your dreams for a while and put your own ideals into words. Then return to reality and little by little turn those ideals into something real.

The second album Escape Rock by Sticky&Tomaty embodies the musical philosophy they call Escaperock, just as its title suggests.

The album features 14 tracks, spanning songs released since Sticky&Tomaty began their activities in 2025 as well as brand new material. It brings together feelings of discomfort with reality, the loneliness of not being understood by others, inner conflict, baseless confidence, and above all the determination to never give up on your ideals.

Sonically, the album crosses genres that Sticky&Tomaty have explored across their previous releases, including alternative rock, UK rock, Britpop, shoegaze, dream pop, ambient, dance rock, dance punk, electro rock, electronica, and synth pop.

Distorted guitars, driving four on the floor beats, electronic sounds, noise, deep reverb, dreamlike synthesizers, and the signature Dream Parts that appear in the middle of songs as if suddenly separating the listener from reality.

Moving freely between rock and dance music, pop and experimental sound, the album brings together what once seemed like scattered elements and unites them within a single world called Escaperock.

The new track Kakikukeko is one of the most experimental moments on the album. It is a dance pop track built largely around the repetition of the same words. Through changes in rhythm, texture, and arrangement, those repeated phrases gradually take on different sensations, pointing toward a new direction for Sticky&Tomaty.

Escape Rock is an album for people who may find reality exhausting but still refuse to let go of their dreams and ideals.

Rock music for escaping into dreams, finding your own ideals there, and returning to reality to make them real.

Following the artwork of the first album featuring Tomaty, this album puts Sticky in the spotlight. Together, the two covers form a continuing visual series.

Artist Profile

  • Sticky&Tomaty

January 2025, Japan Sticky&Tomaty is a virtual band that combines rock music and character animation. "If you doubt the rightness of society or other people's standards, flit off into a dream, verbalize your ideals and shout them out. When you return to reality, you can make society conform to your ideals." The music switches you from reality into a dream. The sound is alternative rock with influences from grunge, electronic, dreampop, ambient, etc., intersecting with a fantastic atmosphere and emotional impulses. On the visual side, the music videos and artwork feature the floating red tomato character "Tomaty" and green gooey character "Sticky", which are reminiscent of Reverism (his own art movement that blurs the boundaries between dream and reality). All lyrics, composition, singing, track-making, and artwork direction are done by organizer Sota Goto.
