Steam and Wrinkles is a mid tempo city pop track that portrays the late night when a woman, the one who ended the relationship herself, irons the shirt of the man coming to collect his things tomorrow, and discovers that her fingertips still remember the temperature her mind has already turned away from.
A Shinsen apartment, a late-night ironing board, a cotton shirt, a temperature dial already stopped on cotton, the stillness that follows a jet pulling away from the Atsugi sky, and a paper bag set on the entryway floor create a still interior scene where, on the night she drew her half-nodded head back from "shall we use the same detergent," she felt one crease after another being erased from her each time she was mended.

Performed by the fictional AI singer Akemi, the song captures the emotions of adulthood that do not blame the other for being kind, but recognize that being mended would mean disappearing, and chose to keep her own creases in her own hands.
Inspired by the late 1970s to early 1980s Japanese new music and city pop, the track reimagines that era urban lyricism through images of steam, cotton, temperature dials, and the cooled flat surface of a shirt folded for the last time.

The words wear it once more stay inside her mouth as she folds the paper bag twice, sets it on the entryway floor, and turns off the light. What remains is not regret, but a farewell she carried through to its end with her own hands, a quiet room where the steam has already passed.
