THE TRAILERS

A three-track music work by Yukichikasaku/men and abelest, modeled on the format of film trailers.

Film trailers are compelling in the way dialogue can function as a sonic effect, and in how fragments alone can create anticipation for an as-yet-unseen feature. This work was made with those qualities in mind.

Each track is built around a different fictional film: Track 1, an animated slice-of-life adventure; Track 2, a live-action horror film; and Track 3, an animated cartoon comedy.

Nearly every aspect of production, including lyric writing, composition, arrangement, scriptwriting, vocal performance, dialogue, and mixing, was developed collaboratively. Work in each area remained provisional until the final stages, with revisions repeatedly feeding back into other parts of the process.
