SOMU Born on November 7, 2007, in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, SOMU is a rapper and artist whose music is rooted in love, life, death, and authenticity. Raised around music from an early age through his mother, a singer, SOMU discovered Hip-Hop at the age of 10. Later, his encounter with rapper ZzerrorzZ became a major source of inspiration, leading him to pursue music seriously and begin creating his own songs at 16. His debut single, "RIDE OR DIE," released the same year, surpassed 300,000 combined streams and social media plays, marking an impactful start to his career. After spending his childhood dedicated to soccer and futsal, SOMU began channeling his personal experiences, struggles, and emotions into music. His work speaks to those navigating life's challenges, delivering messages centered on love, life, death, and staying true to oneself. "I want to save people like the person I used to be." Driven by that belief, SOMU creates music for those carrying painful memories, trauma, and unseen battles, hoping to provide even a brief moment of relief and escape. In June 2026, he founded his independent label, YIL (Young Independent Life). Based in Susukino, Sapporo, he is also the organizer of "OFF BROADWAY," an event dedicated to supporting and energizing the local music scene. "You are enough just as you are." SOMU's music exists to prove those words are true.
