"My Nature" is the triumphant comeback single from Lemei, an accomplished singer-songwriter and vocalist who has spent years crafting hits for Japan's top major idol groups, including AKB48 and Nogizaka46.
Originally conceived in 2008 just before her hiatus, the track remained a dormant demo of just melody and lyrics for 17 years.
Following a devastating decade-long battle with a severe vocal disorder that threatened her singing career, Lemei miraculously reclaimed her voice in the summer of 2025. Knowing it was finally time to breathe life into these dormant words, she completed the song.
Reminiscent of late 90s and early 00s alternative rock icons like Alanis Morissette, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, and Amanda Marshall, the track features a powerful yet delicate 6/8 mid-tempo groove.
Written entirely in English, the lyrics declare a resolute vow to move forward-proclaiming "there's no cry in my life."
Blending sophisticated major-scene songwriting with raw, triumphant vocals, this anthem serves as a roaring declaration of rebirth and empowerment for anyone fighting their own battles.
Leme (Singer-Songwriter / Songwriter / Vocalist) After losing her singing voice to a decade-long vocal disorder, Japanese singer-songwriter and songwriter Lemei returns to her own music with a song that had remained unfinished for 17 years. Lemei is a Japanese singer-songwriter, vocalist, and professional songwriter whose career began after she won Best Vocalist at the YOKOHAMA HIGHSCHOOL HOTWAVE FESTIVAL finals while still in high school. She was subsequently scouted by a Japanese music production company known for artists including Hako Yamasaki and Nae Yuuki, entering the music industry at the age of 20. After working as an independent singer-songwriter, including writing an original song for the NHK television program Watashi ga Kodomo Datta Koro, Lemei moved behind the scenes around 2009, focusing on professional songwriting, vocal recording, and demo vocals for Japanese pop and idol music. Over the years, she has been involved in music production for major Japanese female idol acts, including artists from the AKB48 Group and Sakamichi Series. In 2015, Lemei developed a vocal disorder that profoundly affected her ability to sing. For approximately ten years, she was unable to use her natural singing voice as she once had. In the summer of 2025, she regained her singing voice and began preparing to return to her own musical career. Her first new single, My Nature, will be released on August 25, 2026, marking her first new release in more than two decades as a singer-songwriter.
