Calathea

The beat maker Kakasi, originally from Nagano, will release a new album "Calathea" on March 1st. This is his first work in three years since "Blue Mountain" in 2021 under his solo name.

Kakasi is a beat maker belonging to the label Road Leef, founded by fellow rapper from the same region, Warbo. Since the early 2010s, he has been releasing beat tapes and providing beats to rappers, including working with label mate rapper Jam Fuden in the crew RAWLITTLENSS, releasing the album "rawlittlenss" in 2021. In 2022, he moved from Nagano to Okayama and participated in the EP "INDA HOUSE," released by local rapper Datto in 2023. Besides releasing works, he also performs beat live shows in the Kansai region.

The upcoming album is his first since relocating to Okayama. It is a pure showcase of Kakasi's skills as a beat maker, without featuring rappers or singers. While his previous works primarily featured intricate boom bap with jazz and soul samples, this new album introduces live guitar and bass performances, revealing a new aspect of his music.

Kakasi himself handled the mixing and mastering. The artwork was created by AYADESU.
