Artist Profile

  • ADDICT OF THE TRIP MINDS

In 1991, Kenichi Okamoto and Motom (dr.) were organizing a one-night rock event called "Club ADDICT" together, and they hit it off, gathered their friends, and formed a band. In 1993, Shige Kawakami, a bassist of Carmen Maki & OZ, joined the band officially and released their first album "ADDICT OF THE TRIP MINDS" from a major label in 1994. The following year, however, they released their second album in 1995. However, the following year, 1995, the band suddenly disbanded just before the production of their second album. In 2020, Okamoto and Motom, who had been friends since then, saw Kawakami play at "Carmen Maki & OZ 2019 45th Anniversary and "the Last Tour"" and decided to reunite ADDICT. Kawakami agreed, and in 2021 they welcomed guitarist Shimon Tanaka, whose sensibilities echoed their own, and restarted ADDICT at a live performance at Shibuya VISION Tokyo on December 5, 2021, after 27 years. The live performance, which was streamed live for a fee, showcased Okamoto's lyrical world and performance, which resonate only in this day and age, to fans across Japan along with his unique sound. However, the true essence of ADDICT, the live sound world, can only be experienced at a live venue. Please come to the live venue and experience it for yourself.
