Lyric

Soft lamps glowing by the doorway

Someone leaves without a sound

Elevator numbers changing

While the night keeps settling down

Glass is resting on the table

Music barely fills the room

City shining through the windows

Silver fading into blue

Nothing here is asking

Where I'm going next

I can let the evening

Take care of the rest

In the velvet lobby

Let the night move slowly

All the lights around me

Feel a little softer now

In the velvet lobby

Nothing needs to know me

I can sit here quietly

And let the world go by

Someone laughing in the distance

Footsteps crossing polished floors

Cars are drawing little ribbons

Past the slowly turning doors

Phone is sleeping in my pocket

There's no reason I should leave

Every sound becomes an echo

Floating somewhere underneath

Nothing here is asking

Where I'm going next

I can let the evening

Take care of the rest

In the velvet lobby

Let the night move slowly

All the lights around me

Feel a little softer now

In the velvet lobby

Nothing needs to know me

I can sit here quietly

And let the world go by

Low lights

Soft chairs

Quiet conversations in the air

Slow steps

Late hour

Nothing needs to be any louder

In the velvet lobby

Let the night move slowly

All the lights around me

Feel a little softer now

In the velvet lobby

Nothing needs to know me

I can sit here quietly

And let the world go by

Let it go by

Softly tonight
