A rich tapestry of emotions woven by guitar, violin, viola, cello, and vocals, capturing the quiet essence of universal love, hope, and the beauty of life in eight exquisite compositions.
Guitarist Falcon, known for his borderless versatility across various musical scenes, joined forces with singer Eri Liao and Aska Strings (Aska Maret, Atsuki Yoshida, Makito Nishiya) to form a chamber music ensemble dedicated to expressing a folkloric world crafted by the interplay of string instruments and human voices. Falcon's meticulous compositions, Aska Strings' free-spirited ensemble, and Eri Liao's rich multilingual vocals converge into a unique joy of music.
In October 2021, the unit held their debut live performance under the name "Songs & Strings." In October 2022, they performed live again and recorded the following day. In 2023, the unit rebranded as 'Haruka Strings' and embarked on a new chapter.
Haruka Strings is a chamber music ensemble focused on vocals and strings, originally founded by guitarist Falcon, singer Eri Liao, and Aska Strings (current members: Aska Maret, Atsuki Yoshida, Makito Nishiya). The ensemble debuted with an inaugural live concert in October 2021 under the name "Songs & Strings." Following their successful performance, they held another live concert in October 2022, recording it the following day. In 2023, they underwent a rebranding and emerged as "Haruka Strings". While Falcon takes the lead in songwriting and arranging, the string ensemble also showcases its three members' individual creativity and artistic sensibilities. Within this captivating sound, Eri Liao's rich voice resonates in various languages, adding to the tapestry of the composition. Their debut album, titled "Dreams in the Wind," comprises eight captivating songs. Within their repertoire, three songs(M-5, M-1, M-2) vividly portray the landscapes of Shonan, their place of residence, capturing the emotional journey during distinct periods: pre-COVID-19 pandemic, during the pandemic, and in the aftermath of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022. A song from the album, "Earth Turns Eternal," by Aska Maret, is recorded as part of her multilingual project for peace, with Eri Liao's beautiful vocal and interpretation in Chinese. Furthermore, "Joban Tankobushi" a captivating folk song from Eri Liao's father's hometown, as well as "Finale," an enchanting Okinawa folk song composed by Seijin Noborikawa are also the highlights of the album. The album was recorded by Yuta Yoneyama, an esteemed engineer from Sony Music Studio, who has also received high praise from Aska Maret. For one of the live recordings, they enlisted the expertise of Hiroshi Iguchi, renowned for his experiences in Japan and Myanmar. The album jacket was designed by Amigo Koike, an illustrator, and musician with collaborations with numerous artists.
