Nitsua's new album "Soul of the Sky", his first in about 5 years, will finally be released on October 30th!
Nitsua is based in California. His debut album "Dayscape" was released in 2015 when he was still in his early 20s, and many listeners were surprised by his talent.
He originally planned to release his work through Hydeout Productions, run by Nujabes, but Nujabes passed away suddenly before he could achieve his goal. After that, he continued to work with Koizumi Takumi, who managed Nujabes and Hydeout Productions. He also contributed songs under the name Zack Austin to the memorial album for Nujabes, "Modal Soul Classics 2 Dedicated to Nujabes", and finally released his debut album "Dayscape" through Koizumi Takumi's label, Rockwell Product Shop, in 2015. The album mainly featured songs he had been making since he was 18 years old, and many listeners were surprised by his talent. He also released "Epoch," a collaboration with Marcus D, and an album of unreleased songs, and released his long-awaited second album "Safety In the Sun" in 2019, and his third album "Safety In the Moon" at the end of the same year. Nitusa's dreamy and gentle worldview has been supported by many listeners since his debut, and he continues to create works that are loved even now, nearly 10 years later.
Nitusa is finally releasing his latest album for the first time in five years.
The opening song of the album, "breeze," has a relaxed yet powerful beat and a floating melody that gently invites you to take the very first step into his new world. The second song, "psiothurism," is a sparkling world that warmly envelops you, as if you were imagining sunlight floating comfortably and leisurely. The flute played by Nitusa himself is also wonderful and comfortable. Going deeper, you will feel the comfort of each of the individual tracks in the unified worldview of the previous singles "slow light on a feather" and "shadow of a tree".
The eighth track "safe ground" was produced as a homage to "luz" by haruka nakamura, one of his favorite artists, and features Linn Mori. The ninth track is a beatless ambient piece featuring sonsofu, an electronica artist who also releases from his own label visioneternal. In the eleventh track "cliffside bench", Nitsua plays the flute extensively, expressing a slightly different worldview, and the last track "stargazing" is a beautiful scene that can be said to be the deepest part of the fantastical and gentle world that Nitsua has painted. I think you will listen to the album as if you are a floating soul in the colorful and fantastical world that Nitsua has imagined, traveling deeper and deeper into a comfortable depth.
The jacket was designed by Saori Yamada, who has also expressed the same fantastical world in her previous albums and singles.
The label is rockwell product shop, which also released "dayscape."
I hope everyone can experience the fantastical and comfortable world that can be said to be the culmination of nitsua's work.
nitsua is Hip Hop/Nu-Jazz producer from California, United States. He was previously signed to Hydeout Productions, a hip-hop label that was created by Nujabes. nitsua founded his own record label "visioneternal" in 2010 and has continued to create music for himself, as well as produce for others. You may recognize nitsua from his track "Lost In Translation" or "No One Like You" off the "Modal Soul Classics II" tribute album. While this seems like the extent of nitsua's relationship with Nujabes, their association dates back to 2007 during the hayday of Myspace. Since then, nitsua has begun his own label, collaborated with multiple artists, and has been constantly creating music. nitsua's debut album "dayscape" released in 2015 with rockwell production shop. The follow up album "Safety In The Sun" released in 2019, featuring acts such as Apollo Bebop, reciteall and Substantial. With this album came a secondary album" Safety In The Moon" , released later in the same year, meant as a complimentary album with a more mellow, softer tone. "All Nujabes did was believe in me, and that changed my life forever. I'm forever thankful to be a part of something so great." -nitsua
