A single flake of powder snow, dancing to and fro

Disappearing as I think of you, a year ago

The long and harsh winter is drawing near

The crimson mountains put on their white gear

The waves are cheering for the winter’s bite

Rough and raging in the fading light—

Even beneath the vast and blue, clear sky

The freezing winds continue to howl and cry

From the eaves, the icicles start to drip

But the water freezes in a sudden grip—

Turning into the next icy tip

The cat is curled up by the heater’s glow

Dozing off while the cold winds blow

My fingertips are numb and cold

Light seeps through the night, shy and bold

The north wind strikes my weary, frozen frame

But beyond the snow, I call out a name—

A blizzard of cherry blossoms, like a flame

Oh, Spring, please come, I’m waiting for you

Petals dancing in the blessings anew

Meetings lead to partings, that I know

But through the warm sun and the sorrow’s flow—

When the cherry blossoms start to show

I know I’ll finally meet you there

The new year starts, the cold grows deep

The northern sky has a promise to keep

The snow piles up, and my thoughts do too

Children make snowmen, under the blue

The seasons turn, and inside of me—

You give a light kick, for me to feel and see

The cherry trees turn to a vibrant green

Fireworks and cicadas, a summer scene

Autumn is short, with a sentimental sting

And before I know it, winter’s on the wing

But life returns with the vernal breath

Sprouts and buds defying their death—

Peeking through the snow with a silent "Yes."

Standing still within the wind’s embrace

I hear your voice, and I see your face

"It’s okay," I whisper to the air

A letter from spring is almost there

Oh, Spring, please come, you’re here at last

The ice on the stream is a thing of the past

Look, the north wind has changed its tune

A warm spring breeze under the moon

Taking off the heavy coats we wore

Life is budding at every door
