JD Tenku (Jody Tenku Miyashita) Guitarist / Trackmaker / Sound Engineer / Producer JD Tenku is a solitary sound creator whose artistic vision is anchored in the concepts of "prayer" and "vibration." His music seamlessly weaves together the sampling culture of breakbeats and hip-hop with the danceable grooves of dub and electronic sound. Furthermore, he crafts meditative ambient landscapes using natural frequencies such as 528Hz. By shattering genre boundaries, he fuses experimental, psychedelic, and rock impulses into a singular, harmonious creative axis. Born to a Japanese father the late Fumio Miyashita, a pioneer of Japanese ambient music and an American mother, JD Tenku grew up at the intersection of Eastern spirituality and Western street culture. Raised in the sacred Togakushi-Iizuna mountains of Japan, he picked up the guitar and sampler in his teens and began his professional career in 1995. His diverse discography includes projects such as THE FACTORS (with vocalist SAKi), the recording collective TengakuDUB, QUIET WOODS (with Marter), and GROUND REVERSE (with Manathol). His dynamic live performances range from major international festivals like Fuji Rock, Burning Man, and Inochi no Matsuri, to sacred ritual performances at shrines and temples, including the Tenkawa Daibenzaitensha and Fuji Shinden. Beyond his own creations, he is highly regarded as a producer and engineer, known for his high definition recording and precision mixing that brings out the essential spirit of every artist he works with.
