Machitoki Baku is a musician and artist from Aichi, Japan, and the founder of IRO-MONO COLLECTIVE. His interest in music began in childhood after encountering Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovskys The Nutcracker in piano lessons, while the VOCALOID culture he discovered around the same time left a lasting impact on his creative direction. He began producing music with DTM at the age of fifteen. A self-produced artist, he oversees nearly every aspect of his work including songwriting, composition, arrangement, production, artwork, and video direction. Centered on music, his practice extends into visual expression such as fashion and illustration. Between 2022 and 2025, he released works online under multiple aliases, achieving chart placements on iTunes and gaining international listeners. During this period, he also struggled with the tensions between creation and human relationships, eventually stepping away from activity. He refers to this time collectively as his Phase 0. In 2026, seeking to reconstruct his mode of expression, he resumed VOCALOID production under the names garakuta kuraku, se27, a., and the experimental project YuiNe. At the same time, he redefined singing in his own voice as the origin of his expression and formally launched his solo artist activities under the name Machitoki Baku. Amid the sense of identity dispersing across multiple aliases, he ultimately arrived at the act of singing as himself. Machitoki Baku stands at the center of these activities, embodying the core of his expression the greatest common denominator of his artistic self. Rooted in pop, electronic, hip-hop, R&B, and jazz, his influences extend to digicore, kawaii future bass, VOCALOID, experimental music, punk, and scum music. Having visited multiple countries since childhood, his sound carries both an international atmosphere and a deeply introspective tone. Through genre-defying creation, he continues to pursue a form of music that only he can make.
