m/lue. released the 1st mini-album "aida" with 7 songs. It was created delicately, lightly, and boldly. The theme is a mood that drifts back and forth between two extremes: dream and reality, heaven and earth.
Rather than giving listeners positive messages of courage and hope, m/lue. wants them to just listen to the songs together with there own feelings.
All the songs were created using the iPhone app "GarageBand" . She wanted to deliver her songs to the listeners as close as possible. So she recorded into her iPhone without a microphone, as if she was talking on the phone directly. She recorded many times in her room and played all the instruments by herself.
Mixing and Mastering is by Tomggg.
The artwork is by photographer Kazuhiro Yasuda.
m/lue. (Milieu) is a singer-songwriter whose name derives from the French word milieu, meaning "middle ground" and "environment." Her music is characterized by a layered sound combining live instruments and field recordings with poetic melodies and poetry readings, rooted in indie folk and ambient pop. Originally active as a stage and film actress, she brings a distinctly theatrical quality to her live performances drawn from that background. Her solo sets, built in real time through a looper with layered vocals and instruments, leave a lasting impression on all who witness them. In 2020, she began making music using only the GarageBand app on her iPhone. After her work caught the attention of Maltine Records' tomad on social media, her profile began to grow. In 2021, she released her mini-album Aida, on which she played and arranged all parts - piano, guitar, and bass - herself. She was selected as one of Mikiki's Most Anticipated New Japanese Artists of 2022, and in 2023 served as opening act for "SHIN-ONSAI 2023," a festival also featuring toe and Shuta Hasunuma Phil. Afterward, she spent time searching for the music she truly wanted to make while building up her production setup, and four years later released her 1st full album. In June 2025, she released Ghost of Time - a work that traces places and memories to imagine distant strangers, expressing her own struggles and hopes through spatial sound and sharp language. Khamai Leon's Fuga Akase and beja, whom she had connected with by chance through social media, participated in the recording. Their encounter with musicians rooted in jazz and classical music allowed m/lue.'s imagined sound world to be realized with greater resolution than ever before. Mastering was handled by Andy Miles of Star Delta Mastering (UK), and a CD edition was released through Hong Kong indie label Infree Records, achieving distribution both domestically and internationally. That September, she unveiled her first-ever band set at the album release live "Toku wo Sozosuru you ni" at Haretara Sora ni Mame Maite in Daikanyama, Tokyo. Joined by beja and Fuga Akase of Khamai Leon - who had been deeply involved in the album's recording and engineering - alongside Keitaro Kanamine, known for his work with Minyo Crusaders and Saho Terao, she performed a two-man show with Tavito Nanao. The live show, which brought the album's sound world to the stage for the first time, received high acclaim for its haunting yet powerful performance. In November, she was selected as opening act for "Yokosuka Bayside Breeze," featuring KanSano and Kisel. In December, she was featured in the "30 New Wave Artists" guide in ele-king vol.36, a special issue titled "Japanese Singer-Songwriters: A New Presence." In February 2026, she performed a two-man show with Kisel at KD Hapon in Nagoya. She was also selected as an "Up Coming Artist" by Cinra. With her music now airing on FM radio in Germany, she is gaining recognition both at home and abroad. Official website:https://www.m-lue.com
