kohei yamamoto's 12th studio album is finally complete.
This work revisits the theme of "Life" originally explored in "wavelength2 (2024)" from a fresh perspective, featuring subtle homages to tracks from the previous album throughout.
The core of the album is the subtitle track, "tour of life," which stands as the longest composition in kohei yamamoto's history at 13 and a half minutes. The song serves as a reflection on his own life as he approaches his 30th birthday, while simultaneously illustrating his vision for the future.
Originally intended as a single, the project shifted into a six-track album after it was discovered that major streaming platforms only permit the release of tracks exceeding 10 minutes within an album format.
The tracklist includes a new brass arrangement of "alive in time" (originally released in 2025) alongside four brand-new songs. Due in part to the tight production window, half of the tracks are "Total-Solo" productions, featuring kohei yamamoto on every single instrument.
While this multi-tracking approach is not uncommon in his discography - seen in the entirely self-performed "Uncharted and Existed 2020 Edition" and the track "Cicadas" from "wavelength3 (2025)" - the ever-evolving quality of these solo performances remains a primary highlight of the album.
The lineup of participating musicians remains largely consistent with the previous work. Lyricists Rikuto Kawamura (ROTW) and Poruru contribute their talents, while the instrumental sections feature the familiar faces of the "Tetsumanju-Corps.": Tatsuya Shiraishi (Drums), Rihito Murase (Bass), Oleo (Trumpet), Yuichi Nishibe (Saxophone), Tomato (Saxophone), Ryusei Kawakubo (Trombone), and Wataru Nakano (Keyboards).
As always, kohei yamamoto handled the entirety of the mixing and mastering process. We invite you to experience the latest evolution of the "wavelength world," which continues to grow in depth and intensity year by year.
