A solo work by drummer Shota Mizuguchi, known for his work in LOOP POOL, December, and the [.que]Band.
Garden is an open space serving as a sonic playground-a place where we reclaim our own sound through the act of play.
This project is intertwined with the Roblox game "Sound Playground," which features tracks from the album. Within the game's supplementary narrative, it explores a burgeoning self-awareness within an AI named En. Through this relationship, the work asks: what is it that we truly needed?
Against a backdrop of AI, social media, the evaluation economy, platform capitalism, chaotic global affairs, and the Japanese economy, we find ourselves in a world where "grand narratives" have ended. Amidst this struggle, we seek a form of happiness or a "proof of life" while navigating the tension between inseparable traditional structures and alternative ways of being.
This album marks the first step in a new direction-an attempt to step back from the "capitalism game" while simultaneously reconnecting with others to seek a more meaningful existence.
Mizuguchi takes pride in this work as the establishment of his own artistic identity, featuring strong melodies, ambient textures, substitute chords, modern add-on arpeggios, and contemporary grooves.
And yet, we continue to bloom in full glory.
