The Space Before Words is a five song album by Sumi Asahina, inspired by the US paperback edition of I Was Only Observing Myself.

With warm piano, soft acoustic textures, intimate vocals and a cinematic indie sound, the album traces the quiet space before feeling becomes language. It moves through morning light, ordinary rooms, memory, distance, and the subtle awareness of living while seeing oneself live.

Created for listeners who are drawn to literature, introspection, mature indie music and emotionally quiet storytelling, this album does not offer easy answers. It remains close to what is felt deeply, spoken of poorly, or not spoken of at all.
