Liar in the mirror, staring back at me

Drowning in the fake praise, suffocating now

Liar in the mirror, staring back at me

    Hollow Masquerade

    SoLunia

SoLunia is an electronic rock music project built around the concept, "Empathy over salvation." Its music gives form to loneliness, anxiety, and emotions that are difficult to put into words.

The new single, "Hollow Masquerade," is about someone who tells small lies to be noticed, regrets them, promises to stop, and then finds themselves repeating the same behavior again.

It does not begin with a lie meant to hurt someone.

A conversation is about to fall silent, so you exaggerate a story just a little to keep things going. Everyone laughs, the moment passes, and nothing seems wrong. But by the time you get home, that one thing you said is already replaying in your head.

You know nobody probably cares.

Still, once you start thinking, "What if they find out?" or "What if they say something next time?", it becomes difficult to settle down.

For a moment, you had everyone's attention. Maybe you seemed more interesting. Maybe your value felt a little higher.

But the more attention you received, the more frightening it becomes afterward.

You tell yourself you will stop. Then the next time you are talking to someone, the same kind of words slip out before you even have time to think.

That cycle is what "Hollow Masquerade" portrays.

Something similar happens on social media.

You choose the photo that turned out best and take one moment that looks happier from an otherwise uneventful day. Positive reactions bring relief, but the more people look, the more frightening the distance between the person on the screen and who you really are begins to feel.

Whether face-to-face or through a screen, the impulse to make yourself look just a little better remains the same.

And as long as you are getting away with it, it becomes difficult to talk to anyone about it.

You tell yourself it is not serious enough to matter. You have not hurt anyone. It is not a major problem. But while you keep quiet, the parts of yourself you feel unable to show anyone slowly begin to grow.

Driven by a fast tempo, the track combines electronic beats with the weight and texture of rock, maintaining a persistent sense of forward motion.

Its intensity shifts throughout the song. Tighter passages give way to larger, more forceful sections, reflecting the feeling of anxiety returning just after a brief sense of relief.

In the second half, the sound grows heavier and more intense. Near the end, the music pulls back before surging forward again. That returning force mirrors the mind of someone who has already decided to stop, yet finds themselves repeating the same behavior anyway.

There is regret.

And still, it does not stop.

For those who become strangely quiet after a night when everything seemed to go well.

For those who know nobody else cares, yet replay something they said over and over again.

For those who are afraid of seeing a notification, yet keep checking the screen.

For those who promised themselves they would stop, only to repeat the same thing again today.

"Hollow Masquerade" is not a song made to judge them.

Listening to it will not solve anything.

It simply puts into sound and words the feelings that have been carried in silence - and says that those feelings exist here, too.

Artist Profile

  • SoLunia

"Empathy over salvation." SoLunia is a music project that gives loneliness and anxiety a place to exist as they are. The name combines Sol (sun), Luna (moon), and ia (place), representing a space between light and shadow - a place where ambiguous emotions that belong fully to neither side can breathe. Rather than offering encouragement or easy optimism, SoLunia seeks a quieter kind of connection: the feeling that someone else is standing in the same place. The songs and visuals explore the pain people often carry but struggle to put into words - the need for validation, disconnection in the digital age, the fear of days when you simply cannot move forward, and the false comfort of saying, "I'm fine." Drawing from lived experiences, SoLunia combines AI and other creative technologies with hands-on human work, pursuing a sense of emotional unity between lyrics, sound, and visuals. Key tracks include "Validation Economy," "Tearless," "unfelt," "I'm fine...," and "Endless Pain."
