Beyond the accident, having finished the annual meeting...... Front Cover

Lyric

Tomorrow is good-bye to this town.

Takemi Otsuki

Tomorrow is good-bye to this town.

My name is Takemi Ootsuki, Department of Hygiene, Kawasaki Medical School.
Kawasaki Medical School is a private, single-department medical school located in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, and is named after its founder, Dr. Sukewnobu Kawasaki. I studied at the affiliated high school (the only high school in Japan with a medical school attached), university, and hematology, and since 1996, I have specialized in hygiene and am currently serving as a professor.
On December 7, 2013, I suffered an open fracture of the right patella and a compound fracture of the left tibia. Fortunately, I was taken to the university hospital and the right knee was operated on the same day, but the left knee was operated on 9 days later due to severe swelling. I was in the hospital room for New Year's Eve, but a small cake was served at Christmas and an Osechi dish was served at New Year's. On the seventh day of the New Year, I tasted seven kinds of herbs. I was discharged from the hospital on January 12, but I had to wear a brace on my right knee to prevent it from collapsing, and on my left, I had to use two crutches until the end of January because I was not allowed to put any weight on it for six weeks after the surgery.
The wire holding my patella in place was causing pain above my right knee when I walked long distances or descended stairs, and the tip of the right wire was poking the muscle from the inside and causing pain, so I had surgery to remove it in October.
The left side of my toe is still slightly dysfunctional and I have some mild numbness, but it has already been almost a year since the accident and I am still flying around in my busy daily life. Also, I heard that there will be a surgery to remove the metal plate (held in place by screws) on my left tibia during the winter, but I still have to work hard until I am fully recovered.
As president, I hosted the 84th Annual Meeting of the Japan Hygienic Society at the Okayama Convention Center on May 25-27, 2014.
The theme of the meeting was "Gaze at Me, and You Will See Love," and I performed a duet with a flute player at the opening ceremony. We tried to make the conference full of "rhythm, harmony, and lively melodies.
The music at the conference is linked from the "Research and Education" site of the "Kawasaki Medical School School of Hygiene" website.
Thanks to all of you, the conference was a great success.
I am filled with gratitude to all the participants and all the people involved.
I had started recording the original CD before the accident, and after I was discharged from the hospital, I recorded it again, and finally was able to add vocals to it after the conference.
I recorded the music I composed when I was in high school and university, and I recorded the performance by typing on a new PC and converting the sound source played on the electronic piano installed in the professor's office by MIDI.
