Tokyo Doesn't Ask Me Why

MarkCafe Tokyo

I walk beneath a thousand signs

With half a plan and too much time

The crossing changes, people move

No one asks what I must prove

A river holds the colored sky

A bicycle goes passing by

I let the evening hear me sigh

Tokyo doesn't ask me why

It doesn't need the perfect words

It keeps my silence undisturbed

Tokyo doesn't ask me why

I stayed too long or changed my mind

It only gives me one more light

One more corner in the night

I can come here as I am

With empty pockets, open hands

The city never asks me why

It simply lets me walk beneath the sky

Behind the glass, a family eats

A song escapes into the street

A tired cook turns off the flame

The night receives us all the same

I thought I needed to explain

Every loss and every change

But under all this patient light

I can leave the reasons behind

It doesn't need a grand reply

It only opens up the night

Tokyo doesn't ask me why

I stayed too long or changed my mind

It only gives me one more light

One more corner in the night

I can come here as I am

With empty pockets, open hands

The city never asks me why

It simply lets me walk beneath the sky

Maybe kindness is a place

That makes no question of your face

Tokyo doesn't ask me why

I lost the map or took my time

It only gives me one more light

One more hour to make it right

I can come here as I am

With empty pockets, open hands

The city never asks me why

It simply lets me breathe beneath the sky

Tokyo doesn't ask me why

Morning Finds a Way is the second album in MarkCafe Tokyo's Soundtracks for Better Days series, written, composed and fully produced by MarkCafe Tokyo. Across sixteen songs, it follows one day in Tokyo - from the first train before sunrise through quiet morning streets, a canal-side afternoon, blue hour, rain on the journey home, coffee after closing, a midnight window and a small light carried into tomorrow. MarkCafe Tokyo created the album concept and narrative, wrote and composed the songs, and directed each track's scene, vocal character, tempo, instrumentation, structure and emotional movement. The production also involved comparing multiple versions, requesting revisions and section repairs, selecting the final performances, sequencing all sixteen tracks and conducting the final quality review. AI was used as a supporting production tool, but this is not an untouched collection of automatically generated recordings. The completed album reflects MarkCafe Tokyo's human authorship, detailed creative direction, editing, selection and emotional judgment.
