Kodachi presents a modern interpretation of the traditional Japanese lyrical song, "Sunayama" (Sand Dunes).
This ensemble blends the evocative, soulful tones of the Kokyu-Japan's only traditional bowed instrument-with the modern resonance of the piano. While honoring the original's beautiful melody, the arrangement shines with meticulous composition and a sense of transparency.
Experience a unique soundscape where the nostalgic emotions of old Japan intersect with contemporary sensibilities.
This is a unit featuring the "Kokyu", a traditional Japanese musical instrument. This was formed in April 2009 of Daisuke Kiba (Kokyu) and Tomonori Adachi (Piano & Programming). A fusion of the classical chic style passed on unbroken since the Edo period, the beautiful reverberations of the piano, and electronica timbre, and its refined urban sound, make you feel a sense of nostalgia and depicts scenes of one's childhood in Japan. With their performance on the NHKE TV program "NIPPON NO GEINO KACHOFUGETSUDO" (Japan Arts - Converse with Nature), providing the music to the Ebizo Ichikawa special video "KOTEN HE NO SASOI" (Invitation to the Classics), and being broadcast throughout the world in its rendition in NHK WORLD[Blends]etc., their activities are receiving attention throughout the world. Up to this point, they have released the CD albums "Japan"(2011)and "Corridors of Time" (2015).
