Artist Profile

  • IQ20

In August of 2002 in the city of Sasayama, Hyogo Japan, four friends decided to form a punk based on their love of punk music. Groups like Strung Out, Rancid, and Pennywise heavily spawned their musical tastes and with Yoshit as vocals, Rocky on guitar, Hiro on drums, and Naoki on bass. they formed the punk band IQ20. In March of 2003, Naoki left the band, but the band continued on and they started playing as a three piece with Yoshit as bass and vocals. Throughout 2002 and 2003 they continued to perform live shows all over Japan and recorded two self-titled demos. In July of 2003 they joined the compilation 1st. Kill produced by the Kill Your Rock Star Projects label in Japan. In February of 2004 they flew to the United States and using Seattle as their base, they performed live on college radio and in various venues allowing them to make contact with several musicians. In May, they joined the compilation Kill Your Rock Star Projects produced by Kill Your Rock Star Projects. They returned to the U.S in October of 2004 and continued to perform and hone their musical talents in the greater Seattle area. After returning to Japan they created and released their first mini-album titled, Message. In February 2005, Keigo joined the band as the new bass player. With the new line-up, they performed 113 shows from May to November of 2005. While performing throughout Japan, they were able to reconnect with NURAL(HOPELESS RECORDS) a band who they had met during their tour in the U.S. This re-acquaintance produced the split album IQ20/NURAL. In August they released their first full-length self-titled album IQ20. To debut their new album IQ20 went on an all Japan tour with NURAL in September of 2005. In the spring of 2006, they flew to California and completed a West coast tour with NURAL, playing fifteen shows in six different states. The style of IQ20 has punk rock at its roots, but it incorporates various genres and focuses on creating a sound that shows what IQ20 feels and wants to communicate at that moment. The social situations and the opinions we have for them are constantly being changed. As a result, the present situation is projected in our sound and words. Protecting our values is an important thing that should not change as a band grows, as we try to create something to leave for the future. Through our music we continue to search for ways to improve our society, and the social situations, both here in Japan and around the world. .. New album 'Dogs' Yes!! We recorded with Ryangreene. http://ryangreenecrushrecording.com/
