Do you have an iPhone?
Or do you use an Android smartphone?
If you have an iPhone, do you know the Apple app GarageBand?
What is that app? I have never heard of it.
Some of you may feel that way.
Because the app takes up quite a bit of storage, some people may have deleted it without ever really using it.
But wait a moment before you do.
You can make music with this app.
Why bother? AI can make music now.
Some people may think that too.
But this album, Experiment 2, was created using only GarageBand on an iPhone and an iPad.
There was no special reason for using the iPad.
The iPhone screen was simply too small.
The GarageBand app itself is the same.
Even in the early days of the iPhone, there were very simple apps that displayed a piano keyboard.
Maybe that was just Steve Jobs having a little fun.
Maybe it was meant to show that a smartphone could also be used to make music.
Now, we may never really know.
But GarageBand exists along that same line of ideas, and today it is possible to create an entire album using only an iPhone or iPad.
Open GarageBand, and you will find a feature called Live Loops.
There, you will see all kinds of sounds:
drums, bass, synthesizers, vocals, and more.
Tap them.
Combine them.
Stop them.
Start them again.
Even with just those simple actions, music begins to move.
At that moment, you might become a musician.
You might become a DJ.
You may discover a slightly different way of experiencing music.
And then, please listen to Experiment 2.
An iPhone is not only a device for making phone calls, using social media, or watching YouTube.
It is also a machine that can turn something inside you into something real.
You do not need to know music theory.
You do not need to know how to play an instrument.
Music can begin with just one finger.
This album is an experiment to prove that.
Finally, I would like to express my respect and gratitude to those who left us the technology and ideas that eventually led to this small machine:
Steve Jobs
Steve Wozniak
Alan Kay
John von Neumann
and the countless engineers who made it possible.
With respect.

On the first day of work, the president of a company said, "Your name is uepon, so please take care of us." After that, I went on a food truck trip with a friend. My dream for the future is to perform live on the street at a food stall called Honpo (uepon_honpo), in homage to all the music I've ever heard.
