Life is Buddha

Artist Profile

  • kumanisuzu

Kumanisuzu is a duo comprised of Reo Hiraga and Kyohei Yamamoto, formed in 2011. They are influenced by songs using techniques such as multiple recordings of various musical instruments, 'sound collage' and multilayered choral effects, and aim to challenge the essence of a pop song. Among works and styles that have strongly colored the central values of their musical sense from the time of their formation to the present day are: the Burbank sound, "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys, the Beatles' "White Album" and others. At the end of 2012, they recorded their 1st album "Tales of the Tales" at a private studio in Aomori, Japan. In January 2013, the album was released by the independent Label Keikou Gyugo. At the beginning of 2015, they started releasing a series of six single cassette works entitled "The Rokki Horror Show" named after Japanese calendar's six-day cycle of auspiciousness labels "Rokki". In 2017, the final cassette was released and the set of "The Rokki Horror Show" box was completed. Included "honey sin~ thick pipe" in the compilation album "REV.01" released from COMPLEX, a label run by Ayu Inotsume (ayU tokiO) in September 2020. The title work "Mother's will" is scheduled to be released in September 2024, after an interval of about 7 years.
