"Where there is light, there is shadow."
"Othello" is the first single, exploring the profound duality and equilibrium between light and shadow. Inspired by the words of Goethe, the track reflects the reality that we are beings simultaneously illuminated by light and burdened by shadow.
In this composition, Yutaka Shimomura interprets the Buddhist law of causality through sound: Light as the "Cause" (In), the human object as the "Condition" (En), and the resulting shadow as the "Effect" (Ka).
The delicate, shifting piano melodies-wavering on the border between justice and evil, brightness and darkness-intertwine with non-intentional environmental sounds. Just as light itself possesses no meaning until it illuminates an object, this music achieves its completion only when it merges with the listener's own "space." It offers a moment of sublime stillness and restorative peace to the weary ears of the modern world.
Active as the keyboardist for the city-pop band "THREE1989" and a handpan player. In this solo project, Shimomura focuses on "Nature Sounds," building unique acoustic spaces by fusing non-intentional environmental sounds with intentional instrumental performances. The soundscape draws deep resonance from the warming piano textures of Goldmund, the sonic curiosity of Ryuichi Sakamoto, the exquisite melodies of Rhian Sheehan, and the artistic spirit of painter Tadanori Yokoo. Rooted in the philosophical trinity of "Space = Human = Nature," Shimomura designs the very "space" where sound reverberates. Stepping away from the clamor of the mainstream, his music delivers a sense of sublime stillness and peace to the exhausted ears of the modern world.
