  Formed in 2010, merimeriyeah is a Japanese-language alternative rock band currently active as a two-piece, consisting of two former elementary school classmates from Mitaka, Tokyo. Over more than 15 years of DIY activity-including self-released works-they have steadily built a following within the underground scene. In October 2025, they finally released their first official full-length album via the emerging independent label Kenobi Label. Their sound combines the the thunderous roar reminiscent of Dinosaur Jr. and bloodthirsty butchers with the approachable warmth of bands like Chatmonchy and Sunny Day Service-an almost miraculous balance. What runs through their diverse songs is a sense of pure melodic sincerity and the straightforward appeal of rock instrumentation. Regardless of age or background, their music carries a powerful yet gentle charm-one that makes listeners feel like starting a band right away.
