"Like Totoro with a studded choker around his neck."
Ido Kyo releases his first solo song in two years, "Stars."
Bedroom artist Ido Kyo, who has not released any solo works since the release of his first album in September 2022, has released the single "Stars."
It has completely changed from the hyper-pop high-resolution sound image shown in his first album to a Lo-Fi, homemade sound image. It's like Totoro with a studded choker around his neck.
It seems that a DIY-spirited movement that is fun to clash sounds that would never have gone together, like the new generation US bands They Are Gutting a Body of Water and Full Body 2, is also happening here in Japan.
The song was produced by up-and-coming producer 1no,
and Ido Kyo self-produced the mixing and artwork.
Another highlight is this artwork, which Ido completed five days after picking up paints, sparked by his DIY spirit after losing contact with the artist he had ordered artwork from.
It all started when he touched many sensational music at 285 KENT when he lived in New York. He had close relationship with members of GothBoiClique. In 2019, he played with Lil Tracy at the show in Brooklyn. After he came back in Japan, he started to make music. His style is mixing literary lyric with Alternative Hip Hop, Emo Rap and Hyperpop. Ido Kyo will have many collaborations with various artists in the future releases.
