In a place where nothing used to grow
A flower started to bloom and show
A name unknown, it stood so still
Dyeing the night against its will
From a distance, it took my breath away
So beautiful, in its own quiet way
But I, a man with no light of my own
Was just flickering, all alone
The closer I draw near
The colors start to fade and clear
As if it’d break if I touched it near
My feet stopped cold in fear
Yet, I’m still drawn to its glow
What was I seeking? I don’t even know
The reason why it looked so bright to me
I still can't find the words to set it free
A tiny star lost in the velvet night
Knowing I’m nothing special, out of sight
But still, even today
I’m swaying here, reflecting you in every way
Up close, the flower I finally found
Was more ordinary than the rumors around
It wasn’t a miracle, like they used to say
Just a common bloom in the light of day
It was just a little different from the dream
From the perfect shape in my mental scheme
That’s all it was, such a simple thing
Yet it made my heart start trembling
Looking around at the world outside
Similar flowers are blooming wide
No one is surprised, no one stares
Everyone walks by with their own affairs
Ah, I see it now
I was the only one
Searching for a meaning, somehow
Every time I wanted something more
I layered ideals, over and over for sure
But the beauty that I thought I could see
Was only ever living inside of me
A star that you can find anywhere at all
Dreaming of being special, standing tall
With a light that doesn't even have a name
I was just watching you, without any fame
The names of the stars in the deep blue sky
No one knows them all, as the time goes by
But even so, the sky is clear
Shining bright for all to hear
The flower, too
Must be just the same
The meaning follows
After the game
It bloomed in a place where nothing was there
And that alone is enough, a truth so rare
The reality I saw when I stood so close
Was never a mistake, I love it the most
As an ordinary star, just as I am
If I can light the night, then that is the plan
I’ve found my answer, quiet and true
It’s enough for me, and enough for you
