I turned onto a road that’s not on any map
And got off alone at a bus stop without a name
I whispered "I’m okay" into the quiet gap
But the wordless scenery shook its head the same
The breeze in that town was always soft and warm
Even our silly jokes turned into sunset gold
There’s still some sand in my pocket from the storm
It makes the sound of those days, as the walk unfolds
To the stars at night, asking if I’m doing fine
I answered back with a single tear of mine
Walking alone is quieter than I thought it would be
The sound of my footsteps fills the heart of me
The season we laughed together vanished with the gulls
And these feelings flow down the river, through the lulls
Even if a different sky should start to spread
Over the shadow of you waving, as I moved ahead
I’m sure I’m in a better place, it’s true
I’m in a much better place than I was with you
Stopping for a moment beneath the streetlight’s glow
Taking a picture of the sky, with nowhere to go
I wrote "The sky is beautiful," leaving it behind
And walked the bittersweet road with a peaceful mind
Walking through the city, blending with the crowd
This town isn't so bad, I say it out loud
But a tiny house tucked deep within an alleyway
Looking so nostalgic, took my breath away
Even though I know there’s no way back to then
I find myself looking back, again and again
Walking alone is quieter than I thought it would be
The songs of the birds fill the ears of me
The place where I cried vanished with the cars at last
And these memories flow down the river to the past
Even if different feelings should start to grow
Inside the heart of you waving, as I go
I’m sure I’m in a better place, it’s true
I’m in a much better place than I was with you
I hope you’re doing well
That old bench, and the cat as well
Even if I’m no longer there to see
The sunset will still be beautiful, eternally
Walking alone is quieter than I thought it would be
The sound of the wind sways the body of me
The place where I laughed vanished with the setting sun
Drifting away as the daylight is finally done
Even if a different expression should start to bloom
On the face of you smiling, dispelling the gloom
I am in a better place, it’s true
I’m in a much happier place
Because I’m starting anew
