Artist Profile

  • Lino L ilac

She was deeply inspired by Western music from childhood, especially Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, which awakened her passion for singing. Around 2000, at an audition hosted by the indie label of Yukihiro Takahashi, Takahashi praised her voice and musicality. She continued composing and writing lyrics while belonging to the indie label. Influenced by the members of Jamiroquai, she moved to the UK in 2008 to study music. She completed the Master Performance Vocal course, focusing on performance. She studied funk and R and B vocals under Annabel Williams, jazz vocals under Iain Mackenzie, and composition under Yak Bondy. The following year, she transferred to the BMus Popular Performance course at Thames Valley University, an institution known for producing Jay Kay of Jamiroquai and Freddie Mercury of Queen. She studied theory, music business, and performance before returning to Japan. Currently, under the artist name Lino Lilac, she is active as a solo vocalist and singer songwriter based in Tokyo. Since 2013, she has also worked as a vocal trainer specializing in Western music and English conversation.
