Love Too Close (in Choyo Station)

Tooru Kobayashi

"Chikasugita Koi" / Tooru Kobayashi
"Chikasugita Koi" (Love Too Close) is a new digital single by Tooru Kobayashi, a nomadic singer-songwriter who travels across Japan performing with an acoustic bass. As part of his ambitious project to release 30 consecutive singles in 2026, this track is a long-awaited new recording of a fan-favorite ballad originally featured on his album "DEMO Vol, 7.5".
Recorded live in a single take inside the historic wooden building of Choyo Station in Minamiaso, Kumamoto, the song features nothing but Kobayashi's warm vocals and an acoustic bass. The natural acoustic resonance of the wooden station house creates an intimate and authentic atmosphere.
The lyrics tell a bittersweet story of a subtle romance between two close friends. Because they know each other's pasts and flaws all too well, they hesitate to step across the boundary into romance, fearing it might break their unique bond. Yet, the honest chorus line, "I guess I fell in love with you," echoes with undeniable tenderness and passion.
Combining deep bass tones with heartfelt storytelling, "Chikasugita Koi" is a touching acoustic track that resonates with anyone who has ever loved someone too close to them.
