THE BOY is an up-and-coming Japanese singer-songwriter who has experimented with various genres and reflected them in his music. His EP from June is still fresh in our memory, but he completed a new EP in just two months! His challenge this time is to return to his roots, rock and create music that is full of love. This work is strongly imbued with a deep love for Britpop, as can be sensed from the title. In particular, the lead track SUPERSUPERNOVA is a masterpiece that embodies the essential musical elements of Britpop: loud guitar, cool and captivating vocal and beautiful melody. To be honest, there is nothing revolutionary about the four songs on this EP. But they are overflowing with an "attitude" that is currently lacking in rock music around the world. A must-listen for anyone looking for "real rock" with songs that he writes, sings, and plays himself! SUPERSUPERNOVA's lyric video is already available.
THE BOY is the solo project of a Japanese singer-songwriter Akihisa Ota, born July 12, 1985. He was born, raised and lives in Suzuka city, rich in nature in Japan with parents and siblings. When he was in elementary school, he watched the MV of Oasis "D'You Know What I Mean?". He was shocked and started dreaming of becoming a rock 'n' roller. He grew up with various kinds of music. Due to his brother's influence, he has been listening to Western music since he was in elementary school. He is prolific. He makes various kinds of music. Including unrecorded songs, he has written over 2000 songs. Heavily influenced by Bob Dylan, this influence can be seen in the structure of the songs. Everything related to his music is done by him alone. He hates preconceived notions. One of the objectives of the activity is to break the preconceived notions. Since he was a teenager, he applied for various auditions but was rejected. Until the beginning of 2018, he has been performing live based in Nagoya for 5 years. He performed in three different styles. All were solo performances. During this period, he also experienced live performances in The USA. He performed with a rhythm machine and his voice. When he performed at a festival in New York, he was asked for an encore and after performing at a festival in Florida, he appeared on radio. Both of these were the first time for him, so he realized that his music is suitable for overseas audiences. However, in addition to the mental illness he was suffering from, he developed epilepsy and gave up his live performances. Since then, he has focused his activities on promotion and distribution using the Internet.
