As a member of AUDIO ACTIVE, guitarist Cutsigh (Hiroyuki Kasai) has rocked audiences not only here in Japan but around the world. This is his first original full-length solo album, released in 2011. Delicate tone control, skillfully deployed effects work, and layers woven together through his looper-because every sound is created alone in real time, the album feels intensely personal and poetic, as if his heart spilled straight out through his fingertips. You can sense both his will to communicate through the sound he himself wants to hear, and a rebel spirit directed at a music scene that can't seem to escape its own repetitive cycles-all captured in the cassette tape format. While rooted in an old-school blues-rock guitarist's sensibility, his pursuit of new modes of expression brings to mind artists like Vini Reilly (of THE DURUTTI COLUMN) and Vincent Gallo, whom he himself has named as a favorite. The beautiful artwork, designed to evoke an old book, feels like a small collection of poems.
