"Tsukiyono Town," which was merged into Minakami Town in Gunma Prefecture, perfectly lives up to its beautiful name (meaning "Moonlit Field"). Legend has it that during the Heian period, the poet Minamoto no Shitagau looked at the moon rising over Mount Mifune and was so deeply moved that he exclaimed, "Oh, what a fine moonlit night (Tsukiyono)!" before composing a poem. Inspired by this folklore-as well as the Tsukiyono Vidro Park and the fantastical, firefly-inhabited landscape-this musical piece was crafted to evoke the enchanting world of a picture book.
