The bird that never sings is inside the cage

Gazing at the world from its narrow stage

Thinking of the scenery through the window pane

My world is so small, just a tiny space

In this false sky, in this quiet place

I can reach the ceiling with a simple grace

The truth is, the sky is wide and high

Spreading far beyond my weary eye

But it feels like I’ll never reach that side

No matter how hard I try to glide

With a voice that can’t become a sound

I sing with all the strength I’ve found

Of course, there is no audience around

But even so, if it reaches someone’s ear

Will they notice that I’m standing here?

Will they finally know that I am near?

The slow, gentle flow of the passing time

Is more than enough for a silent crime

For the world to forget me, and my rhyme

When was it that I was left behind?

In a corner of the world, out of mind

Because you won't wake up, I’m entwined

I’ll never hear your nostalgic voice again

Saying "Good morning" or "Goodnight," my friend

Not on this side, where the shadows blend

If we can meet again on that other side

Someday when the distance starts to slide

Will you call my name with your arms open wide?

If you do, I’ll fly around you, wild and free

And rest upon the perch of your memory

Just like I used to be

Just like I did back then

I’ll sing with all my heart once more

Until you’re sick and tired of the score

For now, as long as this life remains

I’ll weave these poems to break the chains

So I’ll never forget the happiness we knew

I’ll keep on writing, just for you

Somehow, I’ll squeeze out a voice from deep inside

Hoping it reaches you, far beyond the tide

If I could sing like I did in days gone by

Will you notice me under the lonely sky?

If you look at me and give a little smile
